So last october I threw my name in the hat with a group of people from midlifegamer.net to partake in the what is known as the Year Of Shame Challenge. This challenge was to be a pure test of our will and strength to not buy any games for one whole year, spanning from Eurogamer 2012 to Eurogamer 2013, trying to whittle down what we have accrued over a long period of time and to dwindle those piles down to nothing. Now for me this is one of the most mammoth tasks ever! I love me some games and to not be able to was the worst! Slowly but surely though it’s gotten easier to bare but there has been some games that I have missed out on that breaks my heart.
Anyhoo, I was asked if I could be used as a stand in for one of the main hosts of the YOSChallenge podcast and well here I am, on this podcast, that’s been listened to by people! It was really fun to be a part of the podcast and see a little of the behind the scenes sorta stuff that goes into creating one, but all in all the process was a really fun one. Now this episode is shorter than the others that they’ve done thus far but still is worth 45 mins of your time right? If you like what you hear then by all means go back and listen to them from the beginning. At time of writing there are currently 6 episodes to go back and listen to.
I will go ahead and apologise for my nasally voice in advance. I was coming off the back of a cold so I wasn’t actually sounding my best.
– To follow everyone and their progress through the challenge the YOS forum is a good place to start.
– You can follow the main presenters of the podcast on the twitters, The main YOS Challenge page, D5120, SiStevens and last but not least Jayce Stokes. You can follow my progress and innate ramblings at foxhounder01
Come to think of it, it’s a good job that I got my microphone when I did wasn’t it…*cough cough*
